Is My Free Will Taking Me Places?| Performance

Die Performance dreht sich um persönliche Themen und erkundet die kulturellen
Erwartungen und Traditionen, die auf Individuen lasten.Wie bricht man aus diesen
ererbten Emotionen aus oder geht mit ihnen um, obwohl man ihre Herkunft zelebriert?
Als gebürtige Rumänin, aufgewachsen in Australien und nun Einwohnerin von Berlin,
denke ich jedes Mal, wenn ich heimkomme darüber nach, wer ich bin; wo meine neue
Heimat ist, wohin ich gehöre und ob ich dort, wo ich zu Hause bin, frei bin?
Als Osteuropäerin sitzen meine Gefühle von Zugehörigkeit tief, aber wie sehe ich mich
selbst, wenn ich dorthin gehe? Was erwarte ich zu sehen? Bin ich frei, ich selbst zu sein?
Wonach sehne ich mich so sehr? Welche Perspektiven kann ich meiner “alten Heimat”
entgegenbringen, und welche Impulse kann mir mein Geburtsland heute geben?

This spoken-word performance embraces personal themes, and explores the cultural
expectations and traditions imposed on individuals; how does one break away or deal
with these inherited emotions while celebrating where they come from?
Romanian-born, brought up in Australia and now resident in Berlin, whenever I come
home, I think of who I am, but where is my new home, where do I belong, and am I
free where I belong?
As an Eastern European, my feelings of belonging are profound, but how do I see myself
when I go there? What is it I want to see? Am I free to be myself? What is it I long so
deeply for? What perspectives can I bring to my “old home” and what impulses can my
mother country give me now?

Lady Gaby ist eine australische Schriftstellerin und Performerin, geboren 1967 in
Rumänien und heute in Berlin lebend. Artikel und Gedichte in internationalen
Anthologien, Magazinen und auf Objekten / Spontane Performances im öffentlichen
Raum. Veröffentlichte ihren Lyrikband über eine Straßenbahn mit einem
Stipendium der Stadt Melbourne. Teilnahme an internationalen Kunst- und Lyrikfestivals.
Gastgeberin der FUEL@Hotel Bar (monatliche Veranstaltung). Autorin
