Wählen Sie „den freien Willen” | Installation
In allen Ländern in der Welt, wo der Freie Wille regiert, genießen
die Menschen die
Vorteile, frei entscheiden zu können. Zum Anfang: Sie können sich
aussuchen, ob Sie
meine Installation betreten oder nicht. Der Freie Wille macht es möglich.
Der Freie Wille
kann alle ihre Träume erfüllen... In Deutschland zum Beispiel kann
man sich noch aussuchen, ob man für circa 500 Euro arbeiten gehen mag
oder nicht. (Allerdings muss man den prüfenden Röntgenblick eines
Beamten vom Sozialamt über sich ergehen lassen.) Die meisten können
entscheiden, ob sie die Umwelt zerstören oder nicht; oder ob sie Mitgefühl
zeigen, ob sie solidarisch, tolerant oder engagiert sind oder nicht...
Zwischen Mythos und Realität. Der Freie Wille funktioniert nur in einem
System von
Koordinaten und gesellschaftlichen Konventionen. Mein Wahllokal „Pro-Freier-Wille”
versucht, die Bedingtheit zu zeigen, die Nuancen, die Zusammenhänge,
die eine so genannte freie Entscheidung begünstigen oder blockieren.
Choose “Free Will”
In those countries in the world where free will rules, people enjoy
the advantage of being
able make free decisions and choices. First of all: It’s up to you whether
you want to visit
my installation or not. Free will gives you the choice. Free will can fulfill
all your dreams...
In Germany, for example, you can still choose whether you’re willing
to work for 500
euros a month or not (though you have to submit to the scrutiny and “X-ray
eyes” of your
caseworker at the welfare agency). Most of us can decide whether they choose
to destroy
the environment; whether they choose to get actively involved in fighting
for what they
believe in; whether they choose to show compassion, solidarity, and tolerance
in their
dealings with others...
Between myth and reality: Free will can only work in a system of coordinates
and societal
conventions. I conceived Pro-Free-Will as a “polling station,”
in which I attempt to point
out the conditionality of our choices, the nuances and contextual factors
that promote or
prevent so-called free decisions.
