Die Alternativplanung zeigt eine erhaltende Weiterentwicklung des Alexanderplatzes. Statt dem geplanten Totalabriss und Hochhausclusters sind Pavillons an der offenen ostlichen Platzseite erganzt. Diese schaffen zusatzliche Nutzungen ohne die imposante Weitlaufigkeit des Platzes zu zerstoren. Als wohltuende Kontrapunkte zur strengen Umgebung sind sie mit rhythmischen Dachformen entwickelt. Nutzungen: Jugendzentrum, Gastronomie, Laden und der Eingang zur "U-Galerie" (Gange und Bunkeretagen als Ausstellungsflachen). Sie sind Teil einer Pavillonkette vom Kino International bis auf den Schlossplatz.

This alternative plan shows a conservational redevelopment of the Alexanderplatz, providing an alternative to its total demolition and the building of a cluster of skyscrapers. Here, pavilions are added to the Alexanderplatz's open eastern side. Without destroying the square's imposing spaciousness, they create additional uses. Developed rhythmically, their roofs are formed as benevolent counterpoints, enhancing the strict environment. Their uses include youth club, restaurants, shops and the entrance to the "U-Galerie" (bunker and corridors as exposition-space). They are part of a chain of pavilions from Kino International to the Schlossplatz.
